The head of Australia’s medical lobby group has criticised controversial celebrity chef Pete Evans for promoting the work of a notorious anti-vaccine campaigner.

Mr Evans has posted a photo on social media with Robert F Kennedy Jr, the nephew of US President John F Kennedy, who is one of the most prominent figures in the anti-vaxxer movement in America.

He described Mr Kennedy’s work as “important”.

Australian Medical Association President Dr Tony Bartone tells Deborah Knight it is dangerous to promote misinformation.

“I hang my head in shame.

“I can’t understand why we continue to indulge the views of people who are not trained in the science.

“People like Pete Evans is putting all the gains that we’ve attained at risk.”
