Protestors have rallied outside of Sydney’s iconic Sirius building as it officially went on sale today.

The government is expecting to receive $100 million for the building, but protestors believe it has historic significance and should not be sold off.

NSW Social Housing Minister Pru Goward joins Ben Fordhman to confirm she won’t back down on the decision to sell Sirius.

“This was a very clear decision we made in 2014 that we need to sell off properties in Millers Point because we need to pay for more public housing.”

Since the decision in 2014, Housing NSW has constructed and finished 700 new properties, with more than 370 currently under construction.

“It’s absolutely paid off. These buildings were so old and heritage listed they were costing us four times as much to maintain than other public housing.”
