A young teenager who was already on bail has been arrested after an elderly woman was attacked and robbed in regional New South Wales.

Just after 5am on Wednesday, an 82-year-old woman was in her Tamworth home when two young males broke in.

They stole cash and a tablet device before allegedly indecently assaulting her.

The elderly woman sounded an alarm causing the youths to flee.

Later that afternoon, police went to a home just one street away and arrested a 14-year-old boy who was already out on bail at the time.

He’s been charged with multiple offences, including aggravated break and enter, aggravated indecent assault and breach of bail.

The boy has been refused bail to appear at a children’s court today.

Investigators are still searching for the other boy.
