$20k pay gap: Paralympic team leader responds to unequal treatment of Olympic peers
Australia’s success at the Tokyo Paralympics is being overshadowed by pay inequality for medalists.
Olympic gold medal winners receive $20,000 from the AOC, while Paralympians don’t receive a cent.
Australian team leader Danni Di Toro told Jim Wilson the Paralympics Australia don’t have nearly as much money to “tap into”.
“It’s a really different environment.
“We fundraise almost 70 per cent of being able to get the Australian Paralympic team to the Games.
“We just don’t have those dollars.”
