40 cars destroyed in western Sydney inferno

Dozens of firefighters have tackled an enormous blaze at a wrecking yard in Sydney’s west.
The fire broke out at the business in St Marys at about 2am.
40 cars were destroyed but crews managed to stop the inferno spreading to another 60 vehicles.

Fire and Rescue Superintendent Adam Dewberry says the blaze was extremely intense.
“As a car fire, it is a very intense fire due to some of the fuels and oils and plastics and rubbers involved.”
Nobody was injured and an investigation is now underway.
