8yo trapped in luggage hold of moving bus during school excursion
An eight-year-old boy has been locked inside the baggage hold of a moving bus on a hot day north of Sydney.
The year 3 student from a Hunter Valley primary school was storing his bag below the bus when the luggage hold doors were locked and he became trapped.
It’s believed he was stuck in the area for up to 30 minutes while the bus travelled to the next rest stop during a school excursion.
After teachers took a roll call he was eventually found in the compartment, screaming for help.
Zone Manager Superintendent from NSW Ambulance Jordan Emery tells Ben Fordham the boy was checked over by paramedics at the scene.
“It’s certainly one of the more unusual cases of entrapment that we go to as paramedics.
“The health consequences are not dissimilar in a case like this as a child being locked in a car.”
