Australian sweetheart Kate Ritchie joins Ray Hadley in studio

Ray Hadley has welcome one of his favourite media personalities into the studio this morning.

Actress, radio host and now published author Kate Ritchie has popped in for a visit.

Armed with her latest project, her second children’s book It’s Not Scribble to Me, Kate is pushing for all families to read with their children.

She says the time she spends reading at night with her four-year-old daughter Mae is just as rewarding for her.

“It’s the most glorious half an hour. It makes me switch off, it’s as beneficial for me, the adult.

“I think for us as parents it makes us… stop thinking about what we have to go back to downstairs and accomplish before we crawl into bed and it’s so intimate and lovely.”

Ray says the hard-cover book will “stand the test of time” and is the perfect bedtime story, which seems to be a thing of the past thanks to iPhones and iPads.

The pair also spoke about Kate’s Nova radio co-host, comedian Marty Sheargold, and an email Ray once got from Marty’s mum…

“Are you saying that Marty Sheargold is as successful as he is now, in radio, purely thanks to you?” Kate says.
