The Exodus Foundation gears up to serve hundreds at Christmas Day lunch
Reverend Bill Crews has been serving Christmas lunches to the less fortunate since 1970.
This year will be his 49th year of service, and he’ll be leading the charge at the annual Exodus Christmas Day lunch tomorrow.
Held at the Loaves and Fishes Restaurant in Ashfield, the lunch aims to give those will very little a full belly and some Christmas cheer.
Volunteers will help serve the feast to hundreds of people and 2GB will be broadcasting live from the event on Christmas Day from 9am.
Reverend Crews tells John Stanley it’s a chance for people to really connect.
“Everyone gets a proper, hot, traditional Christmas meal, they have a chance to talk to one another, have a great time.
“It creates new bonds that go on for years.
“There’s this huge epidemic of loneliness and people need to get out and relate to one another and that’s what we try to do.”
