Police have uncovered a large drug lab operating out of a home in Sydney’s south-west.

Detectives from the Drug and Firearms Squad raided a home at Chipping Norton last night.

They discovered the commercial-scale lab which was in the process of manufacturing ‘ice’ and MDMA.

Four men – aged 35, 52, and two aged 48 – were arrested during the operation.

Acting Assistant Commissioner Stuart Smith revealed the bust exclusively to Ray Hadley, and says it was an extremely volatile setup.

“Had the cook proceeded and anything gone wrong, there was enough acetone in the air to blow the entire block up.

“If people were to see the rancid conditions that these drugs were being prepared under, they’re probably less likely to take the damn stuff.”

Assistant Commissioner Smith says the bust is extremely timely.

“It’s significant at this time when we’re in the middle of this challenge with dance festivals and drug use that we make such a significant arrest.”

It comes off the back of another huge bust, where authorities intercepted more than 150 kilograms of heroin being imported from Malaysia.

Border force officers found 400 blocks of heroin, worth more than $77 million, after it arrived in Sydney via air cargo.

Police carried out six search warrants across the city yesterday, arresting four men and finding a further 35 kilograms of ice, worth more than $26 million.
