More fish found dead after yet another algae outbreak strikes rural NSW
Around 100 fish have been found dead after yet another algae outbreak, coupled with the drought, strikes the Murrumbidgee River in the Riverina.
Three mass fish kills have plagued the Darling River in the far western township of Menindee over the past two months.

Minister for Regional Water Niall Blair tells Ben Fordham he hoped it was the last of it.
“Unfortunately, it happened again yesterday, and that’s the photos you’re seeing at the moment.”
He says officials are meeting to prevent the same incident from occurring, while he is meeting personally with the cleanup crew.
“The key is to clean this up as quickly as possible so we don’t see a further deterioration of the water quality.”

Ben also spoke with the general manager of Balranald Shire Council, Michael Kitzelmann, who says it’s a concern.
“Any number of fish being killed as a result of the decline of water quality is a concern.”
