A Sydney mum is warning parents about the dangers of Instagram after the app let a pervert contact daughter.

It’s one of the most popular social media platforms around, and if you’ve got a teenage son or daughter – or even younger – chances are they’ve got Instagram on their phone.

But on the app, people can send anyone they like a message, and that’s how a predator got in contact with a 13-year-old girl from the Northern Beaches.

Ainsling Ryan tells Ben Fordham “it was shocking to say the least”.

She says her daughter rang her in tears, saying the man was trying to send her a video message.

“I took the phone, because I had a feeling this was probably going to be an inappropriate call, and I was spot on.

“I did accept the video call just to see who it was. Let’s just say I saw something no child should see.

“I’m so grateful and thankful that she called me because she was only one click away from seeing some that you could never unsee.”
