Pubs to stop serving drinks to protest lockout laws

Pubs across Sydney will stop service tonight in a protest against the state government’s lockout laws.

About 100 bars, pubs and clubs are planning to take part in the last-ditch effort to encourage patrons to vote for a party that has committed to abolishing the laws.

Those participating will turn off their lights and music and stop serving customers at 6pm for 15 minutes.

Tyson Koh, the lead candidate for Keep Sydney Open, tells Ben Fordham venues in marginal areas will be involved.

“There’s lots of jobs that hang in the balance.

“I think it will really make people stop and question what’s going on with the government’s policies.”
