Builder agrees to pay rent to Opal Tower investors
The builder of the Opal Tower has agreed to cover investors rent until remediation work is complete.
Residents in 169 of 400 apartments are still shut out of the building after they were initially forced out last year when major defects were discovered.
The builder Icon will pay landlords for the rent on empty units which can’t be filled.
Opal Owner’s Corporation Chairman Shady Eskander tells Ross Greenwood they welcome the solution.
“We’ve got families that have got mortgages that rely on rents.”
