With less than a month until the election, the Social Services Minister has fronted up to answer questions about the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

The NDIS was supposed to be a game-changer for disabled Australians but it’s been riddled with complaints.

Many of which Alan Jones has privately handed to the Minister’s department.

But now it’s time for questions to be answered publicly, with Paul Fletcher joining Alan Jones in studio.

He concedes there have been teething problems but insists the department is working to fix them.

“The NDIS now supports 250,000 Australians, up from 30,000 just three years ago.

“Now, obviously as a scheme of this scale rolls out there will be instances where people’s experiences are not what we’d want them to be, so I do encourage to come forward with that.”

But Alan has urged the Minister to stop delivering political lines and start thinking about the people affected.

Minister Fletcher: “We’re focusing on getting people into the right pathways so that as people come in they’re getting dealt with in a.”

Alan Jones: “That’s jargon. That’s jargon Paul. Stop talking that jargon. These people just want a mattress, they just want a wheelchair, they want a stander.”
