Mark Latham says he will be introducing a bill if the Law Reform Commission fails to change the law when it comes to naming juvenile offenders.

Currently, the names of all juvenile offenders are suppressed and never revealed, even after they turn 18.

The murder of Tania Burgess sparked The Ben Fordham Show campaign to allow childhood offenders to be named once they reach adulthood.

Ben Fordham’s campaign has included support from prominent figures such as Criminal Barrister Peter Lavac, Mandy Burgess, Victim’s Advocate Howard Brown, Sam Macedone and now NSW One Nation leader Mark Latham.

Mark Latham has backed Ben Fordham’s campaign to name these offenders and says he is meeting with Attorney General Mark Speakman on Wednesday morning.

“I’ve got a meeting scheduled, just to let him know that there are voices and votes in the upper house who are very supportive of the Burgess family.

“It’s off to a review by the Law Reform Commission, but I just want the government to know that if that comes to nothing, it will be advanced in other ways such as a private members bill through the parliament.”
