Northwest Metro to open on Sunday with free travel day
The biggest public transport project in Australia, the Northwest Metro, will open its doors this weekend.
The much-anticipated train line runs from Rouse Hill to Chatswood and has been delivered $1 billion under budget.
This Sunday’s opening day will be free for all passengers who want to try out the new driverless trains.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian tells John Stanley her government worked their guts out to deliver the project.
“The previous government had promised it a dozen times.
“I was thrilled that my colleagues had to confidence in our government to deliver it.
“This will mean thousands of cars of the road and a lot of happy people not paying those tolls anymore.”
