The brand new North West Metro is being put through its first peak hour test, after the line suffered major glitches over the weekend.

140,000 people rode the driverless trains on opening day yesterday but there were delays of almost half an hour when doors failed to open at one stop.

The $7.3-billion project runs from Rouse Hill to Chatswood and has 13 stations.

Commuters are being told to throw out the timetable with peak hour services scheduled to leave every five minutes.

10,000 people are expected to jump on Sydney’s first metro line this morning.

To avoid a bottleneck as commuters transfer from the metro to the existing rail line at Chatswood, train services have been increased to every three minutes.

It’s hoped yesterday’s issues of over-shooting platforms and trains running half an hour late won’t be repeated this morning.
