Blues demolition: New South Wales crushes Queensland to level State of Origin series
New South Wales has levelled the State of Origin series with a 38-6 demolition of Queensland in Game II.
In the first Origin to be played in Western Australia, a record crowd of 59,721 were in full voice at Perth’s new Optus Stadium.
The Blues went into the must-win game under a cloud of criticism after coach Brad Fittler made seven changes to his team.
But his reinforcements proved their worth, starring in the resounding victory.
Manly’s Tom Trbojevic scored the first Blues hat-trick since 2005 and James Maloney notched up 10 points and two try assists in an all-round team performance.
The only dampener was an ankle injury ending halfback Nathan Cleary’s night in the 41st minute.
