‘For God’s sake!’: Premier urged to act on drugs at festivals
The NSW Premier is being urged to at least consider implementing the recommendations of an inquiry into drug-related deaths at music festivals.
A leaked document has revealed the draft recommendations of the inquiry, which suggests the government consider scrapping sniffer dogs, implementing pill testing, and decriminalising drugs.
The NSW government has continuously stated it will not consider introducing pill testing at festivals.
Although the CEO of the Ted Noffs Foundation, Matt Noffs, is an advocate for pill testing, he believes reducing police presence at music festivals is a mistake.
He tells Steve Price he has some advice for the Premier.
“I’d say to the Premier… forget about pill testing leading into this season.
“For God’s sake, get emergency services there, set up an emergency tent, get doctors in all those festivals, do whatever you can to prevent those deaths.”
