Police Association defends officers’ presence at music festivals
The NSW Police Association has defended their presence at music festivals after a leaked coroner’s report advocated pill testing.
A leaked document has revealed the draft recommendations of the inquiry into drug-related deaths at music festivals, suggesting the government consider scrapping sniffer dogs, implementing pill testing, and decriminalising drugs.
The NSW government has continuously stated it will not consider introducing pill testing at festivals.
Acting President of the Police Association of New South Wales Kevin Morton tells Steve Price the suggestion from the report was “disappointing”.
“Any inference by the coroner that we are contributing to the death at these party festivals is absolutely offensive and wrong.
“We need to hear more about the lives that we’ve actually saved at these festivals.”
