Anglican Archbishop denies driving a wedge through the church
The Anglican Archbishop of Sydney has defended his comments about the church’s view on same-sex marriage.
Archbishop Glenn Davies came under fire for comments where he urged those who wish to change the doctrine that marriage is between a man and a woman to leave and start a new church.
Progressive members of the church have accused him of driving a wedge between the community.
But Archbishop Davies tells Ben Fordham the accusation is ridiculous.
“I’m merely maintaining the faith.
“I didn’t tell anyone to leave the church who are members of our church.
“What I said was bishops in the church who are advocating a change in the doctrine of our church, they’re the ones who should leave.
“We’re not a church which just models itself on the fashions of society, we model ourselves on the teachings of Jesus.”
