Teenage girl charged over horrific case of animal cruelty
A Northern Beaches woman has been charged after she allegedly tortured and killed her cat.
Police were called to a unit on Mooramba Road at Dee Why yesterday morning, where they found the body of a cat.
The officers rushed the cat to a vet, who examined the body and confirmed the animal had been stabbed 20 times.
Following an investigation, a 19-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Northern Beaches Hospital for examination.
She’s accused of stabbing her cat to death and throwing it off a second-floor balcony.
The woman was released from hospital into police custody and has been charged with torturing, beating and causing the death of an animal, and committing an act of aggravated cruelty on an animal.
She’s been refused bail to face court today.
Police have also seized a second cat from the home, which is now being cared for by the RSPCA.
