Little Tradies: Children being taught the tricks of the trade
Preschool children are learning the tricks of the trade in innovative new workshops teaching them the fundamentals of a number of trades.
Little Tradies, in Neutral Bay, are teaching children up to the age of 12 the basics of trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, landscaping and auto mechanical.
Australia is facing a growing skills shortage with apprenticeship and traineeship numbers having fallen to a 10-year low.
Little Tradies founder Warwick Kells tells Ben Fordham they teach kids as young as four.
“The enthusiasm for what we show them is something to behold.
“A four-year-old is going to need a lot more help with doing certain things than a 10-year-old but they very much go through the same curriculum.
“None of the tools that we’re using have any possibility of harming the kids.”
