$300 million worth of ice gives shipment of sriracha sauce an extra kick
Police have seized 400kg of methylamphetamine, concealed in bottles of hot sauce, from a Sydney freight depot.
The shipment of 768 drug-filled sriracha bottles originated in the US, and had a street value of $300 million.
After extraction, it would’ve formed around four million hits of ice.
Four alleged culprits have been charged, and NSW Police Acting Assistant Commissioner Stuart Smith says they are facing life sentences.
The seizure is the result of a large scale investigation, and Mr Smith won’t rule out further arrests.
“We’ll be disposing, unfortunately, of a lot of hot sauce.”
