‘We’re doing really, really well’: Ben pays tribute to his late dad John Fordham
Ben Fordham has paid tribute to his father John Fordham, who died over the weekend, aged 75.
The iconic media man finally succumbed to an ongoing battle with throat cancer on Sunday morning, surrounded by family members.
His son, 2GB and 4BC Drive host Ben Fordham, updated listeners with his father’s longtime friend Alan Jones.
“We’re all doing really, really well. Dad had a happy ending,” Ben says.
“On Saturday he was able to have a punt on the races, he was sitting outside with a lot of his mates and he caught up with you and so many friends and family and had all of his grandkids around him.”
My dad John has died peacefully surrounded by his family. It was a special goodbye and we feel blessed. He never missed a chance to tell people he loved them so he died with no regrets. Today he’s being awarded an ‘Order of Australia’ for service to charity. Love ya, Jack x pic.twitter.com/OhJnxsSXiC

John Fordham was one of the key figures behind Alan’s move into radio, more than 30 years ago.
Ben says it was a relationship he and his dad treasured enormously.
“You’ve known him longer than I have, and that’s saying something.
“One of his proudest achievements is playing a small role in introducing Alan Jones to radio.”

The Governor has posthumously bestowed John Fordham with a Member of the Order of Australia today, an honour which had already been brought forward from the usual Australia Day awards due to his diagnosis.
