More than 1300 firefighters have worked through the night on 59 bush and grass fires across New South Wales.

Building Impact Assessment teams have confirmed 257 homes have been destroyed and another 87 have been damaged following the bush fires in northern NSW since November 8.

Alan Jones says it’s time we got tough on arsonists.

“Thousands of men and women are risking their lives fighting fires, many of them have been deliberately lit.”

“Two men have been charged after allegedly lighting fires during Wednesday’s Total Fire Ban.

“It’s time we got tough on these people – this is a form of domestic terrorism.”

The Rural Fire Services’ Anthony Bradstreet has told Macquarie National News anyone who breaches the total fire bans will be prosecuted.

“With so many fires burning across the state and our resources stretched so far we simply cannot afford any new fires to be started.”

“These fires have the potential to threaten lives and property.”
