Roofers caught trying to raise prices after Sydney hailstorm

Two Sydney roofing companies have been accused of attempting to fix prices to repair hail-damaged homes.

ANZ Roofing and Ivy Contractors have acknowledged the ACCC’s concerns about messages in Facebook groups, in 2018, discussing minimum rates for repairing homes hit by hail.

The messages appeared after a significant hailstorm with one reading “I think this latest storm is the perfect opportunity for the roofers of Sydney to increase pricing across the board”.

ACCC Chairman Rod Sims tells Ross Greenwood business should be wary of using social media to discuss fixing prices.

“It’s not only absolutely outrageous, I think, from the communities point of view, but also illegal.”
