Peta Credlin ‘yet to be convinced’ on bushfire royal commission
Peta Credlin is unsure whether a royal commission into the unprecedented bushfires is the answer.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has said he will take a proposal to establish a royal commission into the bushfire disaster to Cabinet.
But Ms Credlin tells Luke Grant a royal commission cannot force change.
She says that Victoria only applied a third of the recommendations from a royal commission into fires.
“I’m yet to be convinced.
“We know the evidence, every single fire has an inquiry and those inquiries tend to sit on the shelf.
“The report takes 17 months to come down, it costs about $100 million for a royal commission.
“It sits on the shelf and is worthless because it has no other value than just giving recommendations.”
