Missing Persons Week 2020: What happens if a loved one goes missing?
Founder and CEO of the Missing Persons Advocacy Network, Loren O’Keeffe, spoke with Luke Grant on Australia Overnight about the difficulties families face when someone close to them goes missing.
She told Luke Grant how psychologists believe the “ambiguous loss” associated with having a missing person is the most difficult kind of grief and trauma humans can face.
“It’s basically when there is an unclear kind of loss. It’s uncertain and it’s an ongoing, disenfranchised grief,” she said.
“When someone disappears, there is that lack of resolution.”
Loren has recently launched the What’s Missing? podcast which explores the impacts that occur when someone disappears without a trace.
