Ray Hadley calls out Premier ‘tormenting’ NSW with ‘broken promise’

Ray Hadley has blasted the NSW Premier for her “broken promise” of good news for reaching the state’s vaccination target.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian previously hinted if the state were to reach six million coronavirus vaccinations before the end of August, there would be “some good news”.

The highly-anticipated ease of restrictions was announced today, which will allow fully vaccinated households in LGAs of concern to have an hour of outdoor recreation in addition to their hour of exercise.

Outside LGAs of concern, up to five people can gather outdoors.

Meanwhile, the lockdown for rural communities was extended until September 10, following an infections spike in some areas.

“She’s been tormenting us – me included – to believe there would be some reward for what people have been going through,” Ray said. “It’s a duck egg!”

He pointed out the ease would be little comfort for regional communities which have not recorded infections.

“They behaved themselves for these weeks and … there’s no reward for that.

“All this because she won’t put a ring of steel around Sydney.”

Ray said he’ll now take any future ease of restrictions previews with a grain of salt.

“‘Bullshit’: that’s what I’m going to say.

“Because it is! You can’t call it anything else.”
