A Labor MP is calling on the state government to invest in Canterbury Hospital after five patients died from the virus in August.

Frontline workers are reportedly concerned about how the hospital will cope if Royal Prince Alfred and Concord hospitals reach capacity next month.

222 people are currently in ICU’s across the state.

Member for Canterbury Sophie Cotsis told Deborah Knight the hospital needs an upgrade.

“Canterbury Hospital is at breaking point.

“The government knows this, we all know this.”
