‘I don’t know anymore’: Victorian CFMEU boss at loss for solutions as protests continue
The head of the CFMEU in Victoria is pleading for a patient response to construction workers caught up anti-vaccination misinformation.
Tradies have launched into a second day of protests in the Melbourne CBD, blocking major streets and disrupting traffic.
State Secretary John Setka insisted the vast majority of union members have happily gotten vaccinated, and only a “small contingent” of the protesters were genuinely CFMEU.
He told Jim Wilson those opposing vaccination are “not very well educated [in] medical science” and are listening to “some concreter that might’ve left school at Year 10” instead of qualified experts.
“It makes me sick, but unfortunately some people buy it.
“I initially … was a bit suspicious because of all the hype and all these blood clots; I’ve done a bit of research, I went [to] see my GP … and I’ve had it done.
“Some have a perceived fear, some have a real genuine fear, some have a conspiracy theory; I don’t know anymore.”
