‘All systems go’ for Suncorp Stadium Grand Final as Queensland records new cases
Queensland has recorded four locally-acquired cases of COVID-19 overnight, casting a shadow over the NRL Grand Final.
NRL CEO Andrew Abdo confirmed to Jim Wilson while the league is on “high alert”, with its Townsville contingency plan in place, there are currently no plans to move the Grand Final from Suncorp Stadium.
“There’s been a couple of occasions in south-east Queensland over the last few weeks where there have been cases, but they’ve been tracked and traced, and the government has done a terrific job in maintaining it.
“At this stage it’s all systems go for Sunday at Suncorp.”
The final decision on where the Grand Final will be played will be made at the end of the week, he said.
