A heartbroken mother separated from her children for months is desperate to get back home to Queensland.

Gold Coast mum Kathleen came to care for her sick father in NSW about three months ago, before the border shut.

Her border exemption to get back home still hasn’t been approved.

Kathleen told Ben Fordham she sees her daughters through facetime.

“The longer it goes on the harder it is to see them and not be able to hold them – that’s all I want to do.

“My eldest says ‘please be home for my birthday’. A month ago I thought that was possible, but now I don’t think that may be possible and it’s breaking my heart.”
