Australian singer-songwriter Ben Lee has softened his stance on fellow artist Guy Sebastian after criticising the star on social media.

Sebastian copped criticism for retracting a pro-vaccination message, a retraction which prompted Ben Lee to tweet:

He told Deborah Knight for mainstream pop artists, the journey to being “outspoken and confident” about divisive issues is a long one.

“I’m not interested in ‘piling on’ someone like Guy.

“For someone like me, who’s always been on the fringes of the mainstream, it’s a little easier for me just to go ‘yeah, I don’t really care if I lose fans’.

“I think it’s good to honour why people might be suspicious or might be skeptical, and then to help draw them back to the grounded facts.”

Ben Lee’s new single Born For This BS* “started off very personal”, he said.
