National Careers Week 10 – 16 October

Liz Callaghan, CEO of Carers Australia, joins Luke Grant to talk about National Careers Week which runs until October 16th to recognise and celebrate the 2.65 million Australians who provide unpaid care and support to a family member or friend.

It is estimated that 2.2 billion hours of unpaid care was given in 2020, equating to almost $80 billion in wages. Even prior to the effects of the pandemic being accounted for, these figures are alarming and growing year on year, with the demand for informal carers estimated to rise by 23% by 2030.
