Prime Minister Scott Morrison has welcomed NSW’s announcement that it will abolish quarantine for vaccinated international arrivals from November 1, while giving assurances to other states and territories.

The Prime Minister backed the NSW Premier’s decision as a “positive step” on the national roadmap.

“This is further demonstration [that] Australians getting vaccinated is enabling them to do more, and more, and more.”

However, the federal government will still only allow Australians and their immediate family members to enter the country, with the definition expanded to include parents.

“Those family members will be able to come into Sydney, if they are vaccinated, and not have to quarantine.

“I want to stress for the other states and territories that … this is about Australian residents and citizens first.

“The Commonwealth government has made no decision to allow other visa holders – skilled visa holders, student visa holders, international visitors … – to come into Australia under these arrangements.”
