Jim Wilson takes on NSW Agriculture Minister over internal border hypocrisy
Jim Wilson has challenged NSW Agriculture Minister Adam Marshall on the internal border between the city and the regions, while the state government fights to reopen the international border.
Mr Marshall told Jim the state “absolutely should” take in overseas workers from November 1, pointing out NSW already does so.
“Over the last 12 months in NSW we’ve brought in over 2,500 agricultural workers alone through the Commonwealth seasonal workers scheme.
“The fact that we’ve scrapped the 14 day quarantine … is something that the ag industry is rejoicing about, because it means that that’s a whole lot less expense for them.”
However, Jim challenged the Minister over the decision to reopen the regions to quarantine free travel from overseas the same day they reopen to Sydneysiders.
“Businesses … are losing tens of millions of dollars because of your broken promises!”
