How to navigate the public transport chaos on your commute home
The NSW train network remains running at just 30 per cent capacity this afternoon, due to a strike by Rail Tram and Bus Union employees.
The union is calling for an end to privatisation, cleaners to be employed in-house, and better pay, and despite progress in negotiations, commuters should expected delays to continue next week.
Sydney Trains CEO Howard Collins told Jim Wilson while many train services have been cancelled, those that remain are running on time.
Blue Mountains commuters have a mostly unaffected run home, but the Western Line, Inner West and Leppington Line, and Bankstown Line all have long gaps between services.
He recommended passengers opt for bus routes where possible, but warned services will be slower than trains.
“Please ensure you’ve got extra time, make sure you know your train’s running and not cancelled.
“There are trains running but we’re asking people, keep your social distance.”
