NSW Police Minister David Elliott has slammed the judicial system that saw an alleged drug kingpin escape while on bail.

Mostafa Baluch allegedly cut his ankle monitor after being granted bail just three days earlier while facing a life sentence on drug importation charges.

The 33-year-old was charged over his alleged involvement in a massive 900kg importation of cocaine into Australia from Ecuador earlier this year.

Minister Elliott told Ben Fordham the AFP is in contact with international law agencies, with fears Baluch will flee the country.

“This is going to be a tough job to get this guy back.

“To say that I’m infuriated would be an understatement.

“I’m starting to get sick of these magistrates and judges, they don’t consider the danger the police present them seriously enough.”
