The federal government is being criticised for its failure to adopt recommendations into the black summer bushfires.

A royal commission was held into the 2019/2020 summer bushfires about a year ago, with changes yet to be made.

Former Commissioner of Fire and Rescue NSW Greg Mullins told Ben Fordham communications between state fire agencies is one recommendation that hasn’t been acted on.

“It’s a national issue, it needs to be coordinated by the federal government but they’re just missing in action.”

Mr Mullins says regular rain is expected this season.

“It won’t be anything like black summer, the patterns just aren’t there.”
