James Willis has taken aim at ABC sports presenter Tony Armstrong’s preemptive assessment of South African cricketer Quinton de Kock, following his refusal to kneel for a Black Lives Matter protest.

Many leapt to criticise de Kock’s refusal, including ABC sports reporter Tony Armstrong, who questioned “how racist do you have to be to not just take a knee?”

The cricketer has since spoken out about how his decision was not based on racial prejudice but a belief the gesture was tokenistic, and revealed how the accusation has affected himself and his family.

“Did Tony Armstrong say anything about the entire Sri Lankan and Pakistan team not taking the knee?” James Willis asked.

“Absolutely disgraceful.”

Mr Armstrong also recently said “this country still can’t accept that it’s a racist country”, prompting backlash.

“Honestly, I find that reprehensible. Say sorry.”
