Senator Rex Patrick is raising concerns over the Prime Minister’s handling of the submarine deal after the French President accused him of lying.

Scott Morrison has denied lying to Emmanuel Macron, after announcing a nuclear submarine deal with the UK and the US.

Senator Patrick told Ben Fordham the Prime Minister should have walked away from the French deal before making the AUKUS announcement.

“We did the right thing by pulling out, the manner in which we pulled out I think was regrettable.

“Australians should always back in a prime minister who’s been accused of lying.

“But in this instance, I’m not convinced we exited this program in a manner which was proper and fair to the French.”
