Transport Minister Rob Stokes grilled over dodgy foreign trains, ferries and trams
NSW Transport Minister says the Parramatta light rail will not be hit with the same cracking issues currently affecting the Inner West trams.
The L1 Dulwich Hill to Central light rail line will be nonoperational for up to 18 months due to extensive cracking in all 12 vehicles.
Buses will replace the light rail for the duration of the nonoperational period, significant lengthening passengers’ commute time.
Rob Stokes told Ben Fordham the trams to be used in Parramatta will not crack despite being made by the same overseas company.
“While they belong to the same family of vehicles they are an upgraded design that doesn’t have the issues that have been uncovered in the Inner West line.”
