The state’s regions have been hit hardest, with severe storm and flash flooding warnings for the central west and Northern Tablelands.
Sky News Chief Meteorologist Tom Saunders told Jim Wilson the “exceptionally widespread” weather event is set to peak on Thursday night and Friday.
“This is a major rain and storm event that is actually impacting around two thirds of Australia this week, which is incredible.
“Often in our country there’s only five or ten per cent of the country seeing any significant rain.”
