The Australian team have proven their detractors wrong, ascending to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup.

Australian T20 cricket captain Aaron Finch called out the “fickle nature” of commentary throughout the tournament.

“It is funny how the narrative changes from the Australian team being too old, and a few players have got to go … to now we’re an experienced side, peaking at the right time.”

Making the semi-finals hasn’t entirely taken the pressure off the team, Finch said, especially ahead of a clash with Pakistan.

“You can’t just sit back and wait for opportunities against really good sides, you have to be aggressive and you have to take the positive option all the time.”
