Military records reconnect Australians with lost ancestors
As Australians spend Remembrance Day reflecting on the sacrifices of servicemen and women, many are uncovering military history in their own families for the first time.
Ancestry.com.au spokesperson Jason Reeve explained to Deborah Knight how the range of documents available on the platform helps users corroborate records.
“All of these other pieces you can then build on top of those military records to get a clearer picture of what their life was like before, and how their life was affected … after their time in service.”
Afternoons listener Adrian shared his moving story tracking down his uncle Jack’s final resting place, after Ancestry.com.au revealed his full name and history as a prisoner of war in Singapore.
