Mark Levy slams QRL’s ‘headline-grabbing’ equal pay cash splash
Mark Levy has taken aim at Queensland Rugby League’s decision to pay the women’s Maroons team the same as their male counterparts.
Next year, the female athletes will receive $15,000 for each game of the State of Origin series.
Mark argued the QRL’s “headline-grabbing” $300,000 cash splash could be better spent elsewhere.
“How can they justify paying the Queensland women’s team the same as the men, when they aren’t bringing in the same dollars?
“I’d much prefer to see the … players rewarded with $15,000 paychecks once they bring in the same revenue, the same crowds, and the same TV ratings.
“They should be investing money in the pathways for young girls to start playing football.
“How many women’s dressing rooms and toilet facilities are being built at junior rugby league grounds in Queensland?”
