‘A dog act’: Developer accused of ripping off dozens of Sydney families
A developer is being accused of selling parcels of land in Sydney’s north-west and collecting stamp duty for blocks it doesn’t even own.
About 70 families paid more than $550,000 for allotments at Box Hill before a contract clause was enacted to rescind the sale because the land was not registered, or a development application granted by September.
The same parcels have now been offered to the same people for $300,000 more.
Ray Hadley has been contacted by Hills Shire Council who claim the blocks of land weren’t even owned by the developer, with no development application lodged.
“It’s a dog act,” Ray said.
Better Regulation Minister Kevin Anderson told Ray Hadley the developers will face punishment if no development application was lodged.
“It’s unconscionable conduct.
“If they are doing the wrong thing then they need to be stopped, fined and clearly held out to dry for ripping people off.”
