Transport NSW staff head to UK for help to fix the cracked tram fleet
Transport NSW staff are heading to the United Kingdom to inspect repair work being carried out on the same Sydney light rail tram model.
Howard Collins, COO Transport NSW, told Jim Wilson the engineers will be confident returning to Australia to fix the cracked tram fleet.
“Two very experienced Australian engineers who are jumping on a plane on Saturday will look at the production line they built in Birmingham,” he said.
“They fixed eight trams so far to fix, they have 21 to fix, they are the same year and model as our ones.
“Going and seeing and having that conversation with the guys that are doing the welding, the cutting of steel will give our engineers confidence.
“It is no holiday for these guys … they will get their hands dirty. ”
